Cookie policy
The site uses cookies for functionality, analytics and marketing. This page explains exactly which cookies we use, why, and how you can manage your consent.
Updated 14 May 2026. The Finnish version is authoritative.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They let a page remember things like the language you chose, or count visitor numbers. Some cookies are essential for the site to work — others are optional and need your consent.
Giving and withdrawing consent
On your first visit you get a cookie banner where you can choose:
- Accept all — all cookies are enabled
- Only necessary — only the cookies the site needs to work are loaded
- Customise — turn on only the categories you want
You can change your choice at any time by clicking (opens cookie preferences). Cookies already stored in your browser stay there until they expire or you delete them yourself.
Necessary cookies (no consent required)
These cookies are essential to the site’s basic functions. They can’t be turned off without changing your browser settings.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| preferred-locale | Remembers your selected language (FI/EN) | 180 days |
| locale-suggestion-dismissed | Remembers you don’t want to see the language suggestion again | 180 days |
| cookie-consent | Stores the cookie consent you gave | 12 months |
The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not store your IP address. It only measures anonymous page loads.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
These help us understand how the site is used — for example, which pages are popular, how long people stay on them, and where visitors come from. The data is looked at in aggregate to improve the site.
| Name | Provider | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 — visitor ID | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 — session state | 2 years |
| _clck, _clsk | Microsoft Clarity — UX analytics (heatmaps, session recordings, no form values or sensitive data) | 1 year / session |
Marketing cookies (consent required)
Used to target advertising and measure its effect — for example, if you arrived via an ad, we can measure whether it led to a course registration.
| Name | Provider | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au, _gcl_aw | Google Ads — conversion measurement, ad click attribution | 3 months |
| NID | Google — ad personalisation | 6 months |
| IDE | DoubleClick (Google) — remarketing | 13 months |
We use Google Tag Managerto manage marketing and analytics pixels from one place. GTM itself doesn’t set tracking cookies, but it loads the underlying tools (GA4, Google Ads, future ad platforms such as LinkedIn) according to the category of consent you’ve granted.
Cross-domain attribution (measurement only): If you move from this site to the Satori learning app (satori-oppimissovellus.vercel.app), your visitor ID is passed along in a URL parameter (_gl) so the same session shows up as one journey rather than two separate visits in Google Analytics. This only happens if you’ve accepted analytics or marketing cookies.
Consent is per site: your cookie consent is stored in your browser on a per-site basis — the same consent does NOT automatically carry over to the learning app; the app asks for it separately. This is a browser-level privacy rule, not a choice we make: cookie data cannot be shared across different domains. Only measurement identifiers (such as _gl) cross over — and only if you’ve accepted them.
How to block or delete cookies
Browsers usually have settings for blocking, limiting or clearing cookies from your browsing history:
Note that blocking cookies entirely may make some parts of the site harder to use.
